We are a team of healers from many traditions who have created a space where people of all backgrounds and experiences can come for healing.

Celeste Monnette, LCSW
Clinical Director

As the Clinical Director and Lead therapist at Liminal Medicine, my areas of expertise include trauma-informed care, anxiety, phase-of-life issues, relationship issues, parenting, and depression. I am a licensed psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience.  I have worked as a ketamine-assisted therapist since 2018, and am currently enrolled in the MAPS MDMA Therapy Training Program. I also co-authored a 2019 article on Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) that appeared in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs. Grounded in a client-centered approach, I practice from a humanistic, relational lens and my strong belief that healing centers around relationships and connection. I work from a place of warmth, compassion and hope — knowing that the possibility of healing and transformation is always present.

After many years as a psychotherapist, I discovered the incredible power of ketamine to heal and reduce suffering. This changed the trajectory of my professional focus and development, which now centers around ketamine work and psychedelic integration. With the privilege of coming in on the first wave of ketamine being used to treat mental health issues, I bring a deep understanding of this medicine and a breadth and depth of experience that is unique in this field. I strive to combine my clinical knowledge with warmth, compassion, and empathy for each client and their individual experience.

Through my experience as a Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapist, I have witnessed the vast potential of this treatment to decrease symptoms of many psychiatric, spiritual, and emotional issues. By providing a connection and sense of safety to clients, I can help them facilitate the transformative power of ketamine into a lived experience. I deeply believe that connecting with our own inner healing intelligence, brings profound opportunity for healing and change.

Suegee Tamar-Mattis, D.O.
Medical Director

I am board-certified in Family Medicine, certified in psychedelic-assisted therapies and research from the California Institute for Integral Studies, and trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy at the Polaris Insight Center.  My interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy grew out of providing medical care and other services in local LGBTI, homeless, and Native American communities, as well as my personal experiences. I am convinced that helping people integrate their encounters with trauma is one of the most useful ways that I can help them adapt, grow, and flourish. My patients have taught me that building a strong foundation of respect, trust, and confidentiality is crucial to our doctor/patient relationship.  I believe that a holistic approach that builds connection to community and empowers individuals is the best way to help patients find healing, enabling them to be even stronger members of their own communities.  Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy has the potential to help people who have undergone severe trauma or depression, and I am committed to bringing this treatment option to all of our communities in the North Bay, particularly LGBTI communities, communities of color, and our medical and emergency response personnel.

As a long-time Sonoma County resident, I have been deeply involved in serving our community as a medical professional: completing the UCSF Santa Rosa Family Practice Residency program; working for community organizations such as Sonoma County Indian Health Project, Brookwood Health Center (serving people experiencing homelessness), Sutter Medical Center, and Kaiser Permanente. I also founded the transgender clinic at Santa Rosa Community Health Centers.

Beyond my Sonoma County work, I have worked as an advocate for the intersex community, serving as a consultant for Human Rights Watch and as a medical advisor to interACT: Advocates for Intersex Youth.  I’m also a certified Permaculturist. When I’m not working, I enjoy board games, cooking, studying various traditions of meditation, and life in Sonoma County with my large family and an even larger number of chickens.

Moksha Lea Donohue, LMFT

I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology from Meridian University, a school devoted to a client centered, humanistic approach that incorporates the principles of transformative learning. I consider Psychotherapy to be a transformative art, in that it seeks to help develop deeper capacities of the soul (courage, compassion, empathy) to embolden our hearts and embody our truest nature.  In therapy, I combine exploration of your story with an integration of your spirit to reveal how you may live in alignment with your deepest truths. You are not your story, or diagnosis, or present circumstance, you are so much more than that. My job is to help you access the light beneath all of your stories to sustain you and create greater alignment with who you really are.  My approach is interactive, direct, egalitarian and humanistic.

My interest in meditation and healing started in 1993 when I attended the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, CA.  Learning about the body as an energetic system helped to develop my intuition which I use with my clients. I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2000 and studied massage and craniosacral at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA. I have co-facilitated groups on meditation and energy healing at Esalen Institute as well as at Breitenbush in Oregon.

In 2001 I became a Soul Motion™ instructor, teaching at Vin Marti’s Body Moves studio in Portland, Oregon. The ecstatic dance community has been a constant source of healing and fun in my life and I’m certainly a better person for my involvement in it. (If you’re feeling down and need a lift, I strongly suggest going to a local ecstatic dance event.)

In 2021 I began my study of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) through the Polaris Insight Institute in San Francisco.

I am an ardent seeker, having traveled across the globe to meet teachers and healers from many far-flung locations.  I am a passionate traveler, having lived abroad two times, and bring a wealth of experiences that help me to relate to a wide variety of people.

Shoshana Davis, LMFT

Before embarking on my professional career, I worked for many years with traditional healers and medicine workers. These experiences inspired a deep reverence for natural and alternative medicines as a powerful tool on the path toward connection and healing. Working with Ketamine has given me an opportunity to dovetail my training as a heart-centered, relational psychotherapist with my prior experience in alternative modes of healing.

I wholeheartedly believe that in order to be truly met by relationships, and fully present with our children, our careers, our passions, we must first endeavor to deeply know ourselves. Though we may feel lost or under-resourced in the moment, we already have everything we need inside of ourselves to be living a life of fulfillment, joy and an experience of wholeness in our lives.  My client-centered approach means I follow you, more as a companion than guide, helping you to reconnect with your authentic voice while exploring the limiting ideas and beliefs that may stand in the way of you living the life you envision for yourself.

Inspired and guided by one of my teachers, in 2013, I decided to pursue professional training in order to further my passion for helping others heal. I graduated in 2018 with a Masters of Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Psychology, where I was deeply immersed in a culture that honors, and is informed by, the growing field of psychedelic-assisted therapy. I completed Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy training with the Polaris Insight center and am now taking steps to begin my certification through MAPS in MDMA assisted therapy.

Early in my career, I worked with domestic violence survivors through the YWCA.  In private practice, my focus has been on supporting new mothers, various life transitions, and individuals working towards a more fulfilling life, free from the debilitating symptoms of anxiety and depression.  I lived for a time in Mexico, where I learned Spanish.  In my free time, I focus on parenting my young child, home improvement projects, and spending time in nature with my son and Australian Shepherd, Zoey.

Anne Tamar-Mattis
Administrative Director

Before coming to Liminal Medicine, I had a decades-long career as a lawyer and nonprofit administrator, mostly working in the LGBTQI communities. I left a job as the Executive Director of an international nonprofit to help run this clinic because I witnessed the healing power of psychedelic medicine, and I wanted to help bring this medicine to my community. My goal is to make this treatment accessible for more people, including those in underserved communities. I wear many hats at Liminal, and on a given day you may find me answering the phones, scheduling appointments, managing the books, or lobbying in Sacramento for increased access to care. On my days off I can be found knitting and riding horses. Oh, and yes, I am related to Dr. Suegee.  We’ve been married for 27 years.
